Expressions Hair Design

Ilene Brown, is a licensed cosmetologist and Certified Dermatricologist with over 23 years experience. She is a Sisterlocks ambassador, a Master Locktician and a Holistic Hair Loss practitioner. She is also a member of Trichologist on a Mission and a first responder certified by Hair Loss Behind the chair.

Ilene specializes in hair care while making sure her clients are educated about their hair and the health of their scalp. She is very passionate about hair care and the overall health of the body. Ilene continues to attend various educational classes to upgrade her skills and to keep informed about the latest hair care treatments and products to address her clients needs. As a consummate professional, Ilene will provide the necessary care to her clients to get the best possible results.

Hair Restoration

Hair Loss affects one in every four women, more and more we are seeing the effects of hair loss caused by medication, diet, stress, environment, air condition, and a host of other things. Hair loss is affecting younger and younger people and Drs. which cannot be pinpoint the cause. There are different types of hair loss which are broken down into two categories

Scarring Alopecias and Non Scarring Alopecias. A scarring alopecia occurs when there is inflammation in the scalp. The body replaces the inflammation with collagen (scar tissues). Scar tissues does not preserve follicles. These follicles cannot generate and so leads leads to permanent hair loss.

Scarring alopecia's are Traction Alopecia, Frontal Fibrosis Alopecia, Central Centripetal Cicatrical Alopecia (which is most common in African American women). Non-scarring are Telogen Effluvium, Alopecia Areata, Seborrheic Dermatitis and Androgenic Alopecia.

Expressions Hair Design uses an Holistic Approach to Hair Loss, we also work with a Dermatologist when possible to determine the correct approach to treating your hair loss. Our holistic and natural approach takes into consideration the whole person. At Expressions we believe that if we can restore your hair we will restore your confidence.
